GeoIP Blocking, How does it work? Is it effective?

I have a model here thats real interested in shooting, but doesnt want her family/friends to be able to see her site or more importantly join it.

Normally I would say, thats to bad, best of luck with ya. But shes very pretty and has a very nice body, petite with big natural perky boobs.

So I was thinking, maybe GeoIP banning would work, my server stats show that canada doesnt give much of my overall traffic at all, and I would only be blocking Alberta/Sask.

Is it possible to do this? how hard is it? How well does it work?

Possible? Yes, quite easy actually and effective, however it will probably only delay her friends and family from finding out, not prevent it. Once something hits the web it is only a matter of time...

Shes knows the promo stuff will be all over, but the average user wont be able to find it, esspecially if they dont know what they are looking for. And it wouldnt alow them to view her actual site. Thats what she is concerned with .

Hmm talked to my host and geoip is a resource whore, is there an other way that doesnt use much resources?

htaccess ip block groups of ip addresses for the area? but how would i find that info?

Make sure if you do that and you plan to have affiliates you let them know beforehand. It would be very bad to let them discover that on their own.

Also, couldn't they just use proxies anyway?
