    I hate contest threads

When I see threads like that I don't even read the topic, nor do I ever participate. I can't stand them.

Actually I'm not CD... I was just thinking how cluttered the main page is with them. I don't care either way really, I just don't read them - problem solved.

I just wish they could read the rules. I don't want to piss off a sponsor by just locking or deleting those threads, but I think it's time to start cracking down.

            Contest Rules (from : http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/gfy_faqs.html )

We all agree that too many contests are annoying and fuel post whores. So:

            1. No 'most posts in a thread contests'. Max 100 posts in a thread by one person.

            2. No one registered in less than 60 days before can post in a contest thread.

            3. Contests can't run more than 10 days. And no more than 3 contests at a time. And since only top advertisers can run contests, you need to coordinate with Eric BEFORE starting a contest.

I agree you should crack down on contest threads. Its funny how its always the small posters that win those contests, guys with like 100 posts or so. Mostly alt nicks.

I also remember winning a big prize in a contest once and never ended up getting the prize. I figure it was all one big publicity stunt.

I won't say who it was either cause they are a top sponsor... but ya... Contest treads AND fansign threads should be monitored a bit closer IMO.

its the same no-name people that always win, too. what webmaster(s) have the time to post all day long to TRY to win a prize that is damn near impossible to win anyways (cuz of all the posting alternate nicks/surfers)? i never try at those threads. if they wanna give money and prizes away to surfers that are bored and living with their parents, so be it. (of course, not all the winners are surfers but i think alot of them are).

" In common use the word noise means unwanted sound or noise pollution, but in electronics noise can refer to the electronic signal corresponding to acoustic noise (in an audio system) or the electronic signal corresponding to the (visual) noise commonly seen as 'snow' on a degraded television or video image. In signal processing or computing it can be considered data without meaning; that is, data that is not being used to transmit a signal, but is simply produced as an unwanted by-product of other activities. In Information Theory, however, noise is still considered to be information... more
