The week from hell...
In rare posting form for me... I have some bitching to do.
This week has been the week from hell.
My grandparents (practically parents since they raised me the better part of my younger years) Have both simultaneously taken drastic turns for the worst.
Oma (grandma) was scheduled for a routine surgery on her hip about week and half two weeks back now, and the night before her surgery fell in her room, giving herself a concussion, as well as damaging her good hip in the process. Her scheduled surgery had to be pushed back, rescheduled along with extra procedures for the new damage, as well as everyone freaking out with concerns from head trauma and anasthesia for surgery. End of the day, she came through surgery fine, and now few days post... her insurance is pulling rehab because of her age, and other conditions (Parkenson's and slight Alzeihmers) stating that rehab will be of no use to her. Add to this the fact that her assisted living care center has given us notice that they cannot accomodate her new care needs, and she will need to find new residence by this Tuesday when she is released from the hospital.
Opa (grandpa) for the short 23 years of my life has been my rock. He gave me my most treasured memories and lessons throughout life, educated me in business, grilled me in manorisms and honor, and led me through fire to discover the fruits of hard labor. Sadly he communicated to me for the first time this week his will to expire. While understanding of this, he's lived a full, rich, and very long life... it's a very trying thing to physically witness the breaking of a man you hold to be wiser and stronger than any. His wits, the one thing he was never without in life slowly escape him... His body fails, and there is nothing I can do but stand at his side, and let him know Munki (he first gave me the name at 3 years old) will make him proud.
Sorry for the rant guys... been a very trying week for me with the grandparents, and other family issues all coming down on me at once.
Leave a sacred moment to whatever deity you hold dear for my grandparents, and tell your family young and old how much they mean to you for me.
