ICQ Etiquette - Basic rules?

I have found ICQ to be very helpful in reaching the people I need to get in touch with. One thing that I would like to know is ...

Is there a proper way to end the chat? 10-4, Roger, Over and Out, Later..... I mean sometimes I say goodbye three or four times cause I don't want someone to think I'm rude or just leaving a discussion.

Any suggestions on an "Official" goodbye on ICQ?

often times I won't type anything to end the conversation.

It depends on the person I am IM'ng with and how busy I am.

Hm, most of mine end with Thank You and I reply You're Welcome and thats usually it.. You could always go with "hugs n kisses xxxooo" hehe

a completely different thing; are there SEO bullies crawling around on ICQ hitting up people to change the hardlinks of the competition or something?

Because everytime I try someone to change my hardlink on their site for SEO purposes, it scares them off... like they dont believe im really the site owner... It happened with three people already. They just stop talking or go offline.

It's always really niche to get an "Hello... Are you around?"... or a "Talk to you later" !

Good question Jim...I've been using ICQ for a long time, I'm lost without it....I simply try and use the same etiquette as phone etiquette...If someone is busy I usually wait until they're available and NO CAPS THAT'S RUDE...lol

ICQ takes away a lot of the formalities of a "live" conversation but it all depends on who you are talking to. When Russian spammers hit me up I pretend to speak Spanish...lol jk ( you know who you are though )
