                  I wouldn't be surprised if the first domain wasn't a dot-com at all... But I think the first dot-coms would have come in a huge wodge, hard to track. When the domains became available, there would have been a bunch at once.

                    server in their Palo Alto facility thanks to Brian Ried.
                    (Who by the way invented SCRIBE which begat SGML
                    which begat HTML.)
