Anti spam software on server level

Right now I use spamhaus lists that blocks IP's. However, still spam is coming through.

What anti spam software do you advice(on server level) that does NOT delete email like hosted galleries I get from sponsors etc.

Preferable I would like some software, where I can simple add some blacklisted words...(in combination with the good software I already use)

Thanks. Does this still 'allow' emails where the word sex is found? And do you use it yourself btw?

I would advise not using spamhaus as they block alot of good email also. Ive been using spam assassin for years, works real good.

Doesn't spamassasin also use the IP lists from spamhaus? Also, does spamassasin still let email with the word sex through?

I wasn't fond of spamassassin, filters always seem to be fallible.
The best I have found comes with Cpanel and is called Boxtrapper. Works like Spamarrest, but you control it.

Don't like that idea, since I get a lot of 'automatic' emails as well. And when I have to whitelist everything it will take a lot of time.

Some 'rule' software for the server will be fine too. Like if subject contains blbal then delete etc.

I had written my own and it did a decent job but it required keeping your blacklist constantly updated. So the next step was to make it a bit more intelligent and I simply haven't had the time...

At the time however, I was looking at this
                    http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/

Never got around to testing it out but I think it will do what you're looking for.

the best solution is to change email server software to one that supports all the new anti spam stuff, the one I use is
                        www.merakmailserver.com

its been great...have used it for about 6 years now and the anti spam stuff works really well.

Spam Assassin works pretty good. I have different spam level thresholds and behaviors for different email addresses. Some emails just get the subject line tagged, others get deleted, others sent to a different email address, etc. Very configurable, I'm sure you won't have a problem doing exactly what you need.

duh, what's wrong with the word sex?

Seems to be a lot more spam filter tools at the server level for MS products as in Exchange.

Who wants all the hassle of supporting an Exchange server though. Guess it's great if you have a number of employees and need the collaborative software.
