The 32 bit will be better in that most drivers and programs are still made for a 32 bit system, and not available in 64 bit.

However, the windows x64 system would be faster and more stable. You'll just find that a lot of old hardware and programs won't be compatible.

Agreed. I have had it installed on my newest machine which is an AMD 64 for about 9 months now, and it works magnificantly.

As others said, if you install Win 64 then you are going to have some compatability issues. Just so you are aware of that ahead of time, and have the money to upgrade/replace those things.

Yes it is... I bought it in February and have been using it on my AMD64 ever since. It works great.. infact, better than my WinXP machine ever did.

it has lots of goddamn glitches , drivers are not working properly , some drivers are missing because everybody uses 32bit systems , read the reviews . I had win64 for some time , but i had to go back to win32 , because it was not possible to work .

Its all about the drivers. Check you mobo/video/sound, etc. for 64bit drivers. If you have them all, go for it. Otherwise, if you can wait, Vista comes out Jan 2007 (I think).

i got 32 bit xp on mine now. I first used 64 bit but it was nearly impossible to find drivers for anything.

There's minor differences in speed here and there, mostly due to programs using the dual core properly (if the cpu has it). It's not so much of a speed boost, as it is a lack of lag when a program like premier or dvd burning happens. It'll use one core while the other core is available for normal computer use.

But yes, I do agree on the driver issue. Most hardware/software released within the past year has 64 bit drivers available... but older stuff is pretty much unusable.

So far, the only thing I've not been able to get working is my old webcam. But that's hardly an issue since I almost never use it... and I could replace it with a newer one for like, $100.

If you install windows on a 64 bit processor it will work JUST like a 32 bit processor, you won't notice any difference... and windows 64 is overhyped, you don't get any performance increase... Here is a decent article describing what windows 64 is all about -> http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/08/23/windows_xp_x64/

"Some programs run slightly faster, others slightly slower. At the end of the day, the difference is not noticeable."
