    need help,need help,need help

    this is my last post about ati graphic card but please respond if you know something ;

    my system is
    pentium 4 - 2.0MHz
    512 mb ddr ram 333mhz

    my power supply is 300 watt - not true 300watt-maybe max 260
    i have 3 harddisks + cdrom + floppy + mainboard + soundcard + ati radeon9700 pro graphic card which needs extra power directly from power supply

    here are the problems appearedAFTER started to using the new graphic card

    while i was using windows xp professional edition it rebooted often while playing games or surfing on the net.
    screen frozen sometimes , resets and many more things

    now i am using windows 98 and installed win98 drivers of graphic card : still running smoothly , never rebooted or frozen

    in that case the problem is only DRIVERS or POWER problem ?

    ATI's graphic cards have always been plagued with driver problems. They make a nice product, and I've had a few of their cards over the years, but always ran into the same stuff like you're experiencing. Its the drivers no doubt.

      XP is a memory hog. Besides s*cking! Might be a while before you can get a patch for that ATI driver. We had the same probs in the advent of new ATI's with 98 but they got it worked out soon enough. Check ATI's site for updates.

        if it is just drivers , no problem i can wait
        i am sure they will develop some new drivers or i will give the card back and wait for ge force nv30 (nvidia)

        let me ask to you again
        u sure the problem is just drivers
        ? it seems "yes" but wanna be sure

        still running cool with win98 and played lots of games without rebooting or freezing

                    speaking of XP... I have both XP and Win98 installed on my PC
                    i usually use Win98 but I do need XP from time to time

                    question is: is there a way to make Win98 default OS in the boot menu

                      yes.. change the order in this file; c:\boot.ini
                      It looks like this:
                      [
                      boot loader]
                      timeout=30
                      default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
                      [operating systems]
                      multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
