    Pulling a gallery after listed

What's the most graceful way to do this?

I use paid hosting and most of my galleries convert fairly decent, but if a gallery just attracts every freeloader out there and I get NO sign-ups, what's the best way to retract it?

So far I've been eating the [steep] bandwidth charges because I don't want to get blacklisted. Should I email the TGP's and remove it... or should I not bother them (they're probably busy enough) and just put up a "sorry" page... or just continue eating the bandwidth?

    Any suggestions?

Rebuilding it would be the lesser of the evils perhaps. 404ing it in anyway is a quick launch to the blacklist.

Asking the almight gods of tgp sites to pull it will get some of them pert irate too.

But like my tag says I have no point

Indeed, if your best bet would be a quick redesign. See if that works...otherwise, replace the gallery with a different one of the same type. Then, if all else fails...pull it and send out some emails.

That's what I figures... which is why I'm eating the bandwidth. A quick re-design might be the answer here (and it actually crossed my mind already) but won't that land me on a blacklist?

I understand that TGP owners don't want cheaters to transmogrify their galleries after submission, but they probably wouldn't have a problem with tweaking around sponsors or ad placement. My concern was over the check-bot scripts detecting changes and then blacklisting me.

So far I've been gritting my teeth and paying the cost of learning .

i would try deleting all the thumbnails from their folder and/or the main pics from their folder too and then emailing a few of the tgp's and telling them you 'accidentally' screwed up
then i would get a lightningfree account and do it properly the next time around

I would try a redesign, tweaking and testing if moving things around might change behaviors and as a tgp owner I would appreciate an email. I always appreciate submitters letting me know about changes in their galleries, makes me notice them and even trust their submissions there on after
Kat's suggestion on using a free host might be a good solution for future submissions tho, if you work on the design and attract attention to your gallery you get good results without having to pay for bandwith it's has worked for me for a long long time now.

              Thanks for the tips folks!

Soul_Rebel gave me a quick hand too and I think I'm going to keep the gallery up for a little while longer. The only strange thing is: I've noticed a lot of triangles appearing in and around my home.

That is the worst thing you can do is take down a gallery,, Let it stay,,in time archived galleries can make so much money in the long run,, you might even get some SE hits from hit,,,

best thing is to do is recycle it,,

like get 3 galleries together and slap it to a main page and put a warning in front and you got yourself a Free link site,,,
and or slap a AVS on it,,

Trust me,,,many folks make tons of money by making thousands of sites just float into the internet,,,

I've had to pull pages in the past.

Just leave a page up explaining your situation in a few sentences (no ads), and email the link site owners right away.

No, the gallery doesn't really cost me $500/day - but I figured I might as well let surfers think galleries cost a bundle. And while I was at it, I was hoping to give them a connection between "no sponser visits" and "no more free porn" .

I run a couple TGPs, and one thing I hate is a dead gallery...putting up a page saying you had to close it I would consider to be a dead one. I would think if you just did a redesign, with the same type of content, and same amount, and of course switching the sponsors you are using to more productive ones there should be no problems with the sites you already have it listed with...I know it would be fine with me

I've never pulled a gallery. I 've thought about it very serious.
As a matter of fact never even thought about pulling a gallery. But I will now, email the TGP and put up a page
                          stating why.

I've changed sponsors many times and no one has said anything about that, if they do they
can go piss up a rope and black list me if they want. After all it's my fucking money not there's. Alot of TGP owner's
think there shit don't stink and it's very hard for them to understand that the sun does not rise and sit on there ass
hole (which have and do not need another).

I know there are rules for just about if not every thing in life, but I'll be dam if I'll
set here and watch it go down the drain again. Like I said it's my money and not some owner of a TGP.

I guess the worse I got hit was for over $ 2,000.00 B/W on one and not one god dam sign up. I was pulling the rest
of what little hair out I have.

If they convert decent then what's the problem? A gallery is submitted to a tgp. Of course it's going to get a bunch of free loading traffic. The trick is to build 'em so that even the freeloaders will buy.

Talk to LDinternet. (A lot of people think it's ID, because he uses a lowercase "L", but it is indeed LD) He has the gallery thing down pat.

I tend to agree with those that say leave it there, and maybe do a quick redesign.

what I'd probably do is leave it there, and go make another one..

                                I mean here..

what do you need usually to break even from a gallery..
                                1 sale or something similar...

well, if you don't get it there, make another one, and this one will recover that loss... PLUS, while you are making another one instead of fixing the not working one, you'll have time to make another one, making even more profits for you..

on the other hand, if most of what you make are flukes (no offense, I don't know.. just hypothetizing) then it might be a good idea to tweak it and fine your methods...

Its not a normal thing but we have changed pics, counters and banners on galleries and never once been blacklisted. Most decent tgp owners will check a page that rings up from a script check (note: scripts aren't perfect) and see if the page has pops or other things and then just leave it alone.

As long as it fits in the rules.

All of my previous galleries converted decently. I suppose I was spoiled a little bit and thought "super clean gallery - submit every friggin wheres - off to the races". Welp, the first gallery that everyone has been posting and it doesn't convert. I reckon Murphy has a law written on that one.

So far I've done the tweaking thing and left it up... many thanks to Soul_Rebel and DamageX .

You could easily resize and compress the pics to a livable size and that will reduce the bandwidth consumption, you can do the same thing to the thumbs
