What's the best way to approach this scenario?

1. Surfer visits site, does not click-through -> send to exit console
2. Surfer visits site and clicks-through to sponsor site -> no console

onclick set a var to a certain value in your body tag, and have the function onunload only pop up a window if that var isn't setb to that value.
