    hosting with Cpanel

Is there anything that could kill the cpanel. Everything I have seems to be down. I can only access through ftp, and view html.

send message to host admin, they are responsible for solving that, i had problems few days ago, you couldn't acces to site or cpanel typing regular adress, just through IP of server and ~username (eg. 36.125.1.15/~yourusername), ftp worked sometimes ok, sometimes not, they said that was some dns error with my ISP

in ssh if you have root you should be able to do something along the lines of
          sh /etc/rc.d/init.d/cpanel3 restart (or start)
it could also be in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ or /etc/rc.d if you're on freebsd.

Can only surf the static pages, nothing connected to php or sql works.

I am definatly going moving hosts...

But what I want to know is Could something outside of my host attacked it and shut it down.

if this is happening, you have really creapy hosting with low security, it seems that their sql server went down, apache works if you can see static pages and acces through ftp
