Naw, just goin' through some pics on the old computer I ain't seen in while, and came across some shots of my father's latest pride 'n joy - a deck he built last year at his summer trailer.

Years ago my father and I made a living building decks, but we never seemed to get around to building one for ourselves. This was the first opportunity he had to design and create a deck the way he wanted one.

And now in his mid-60s, he built it entirely himself with no help in just three weeks!

It was his finest deck...and I was quite proud of the job he'd done.

His energy level never ceases to amaze me. Two summers ago he signed on for a 'work-camper' arrangement where he helped out with stuff around the campgrounds in exchange for discounts on their campsite.

Last summer he decided not to renew the arrangement - and the camp owners had to replace him with two guys, and still they didn't get as much done as he did the previous summer.

He laughs it off and says its the best way he knows to keep his blood sugar count down (he's got diabetes).

Gotta respect the seniors - sometimes they'll surprise ya'.

i mean as i read your post i was expecting some elaborate immaculate huge deck and when I saw that one I was little dissapointed.

dont get me wrong, i know the pain, effort, and struggle and shit it takes to manually build shit as I built fences for 6 months working with my good friend and his fence biz. its hard work but to sit back and view something that took you weeks to build, thats a great fucking feeling, the feeling of accomplishment.

as I said, no disrespect to your family.

and disregard anything gangbangslow saids, he knows not what he talks about as he is just a sigwhore and jealous.

How is it that at 22 years of age you know the "pain, effort and struggle" it takes for someone in their mid-60s to build a deck by themselves?

Tell you what, Nofx...when you're in your mid-60s and slowed down with diabetes and back problems - and can duplicate a similiar deck in three weeks with no help from others - call me. I'll bring the cold beers and toast your accomplishment.
