What if your wife was raped and got pregnant by the rapist? Would you have the child knowing that A) it's a product of a violent crime against someone you love and B) a constant reminder of the attack.

I will say, it got me thinking and was a profound question.

I say it's the people's decision ... Sometimes it's better to abord then to have a baby and not take care of it proprely. That's my personal option. If you can take care of him perfectly, and you do it out of selfishness, then you are wrong. But anybody who is less then 20-22 years old in most cases can't be perfect parents.

If you're raped by a mongoloid cousin...sure. If there is a medical probability that if you carry full term you'll die...sure. If there is some other reason, medically speaking, that the birth could end up in disaster for either mom or kid...sure.

If you got drunk and split your legs cause some dude said you reminded him of Britney Spears...fuck no. It should NEVER be a form of birth control. Atleast give it up for adoption if you were too fucking stupid and irresponsible to prevent it in the first place.

I don't believe in abortion as an alternative to birth control, but I also don't agree that abortion shouldn't be a choice. The problem is the happy medium.

The FANATICS...yes FANATICS will tell you that under the scenario you suggest, it is NOT the fault of the baby, therefore, abortion should not be an alternative.

Now, I don't use the term fanatic loosely, but when someone tells me that my wife should walk around with the constant reminder of an experience such as a rape, and THEN give the baby up for adoption...THAT is MY definition of a fanatic.

P.S. I phoned a pro-life office to see if their point of view was the same as I've heard the media spew, and not distorted in any way, and the answer above is exactly what I got. I agree that it's NOT the fault of the baby, but as merciful as these people pretend to be, it's merciLESS for them to think any woman should walk around carrying the baby of her rapist.

Mmmm... Generally not in favor - there has to be valid cause. It's absurd to think of abortion as a birth control alternative. If adults have that attitude, they need to grow up more.

On the flip side - it has nothing to do with anyone else what a woman or couple (and health professionals advise), decide to do concerning termination. There are many circumstances where it's impossible to legislate on this, and better laws, govt and everyone else stay the fuck out of it.

It's not an "issue" - it's a private matter for those involved, - but not something that needs to be abused by stupid adults.
