I need help with wordpress

I am changing a site into a blog & went to add text into the footer, but for some reason it comes out fucked up & the text runs into behind the side bar. what should I do to avoid this.

Can someone volunteer a couple minutes of time on icq to assist me with some wordpress help.

Just about to head out, but it sounds like a css issue or maybe you are not editing the footer file? If no one's gotten you fixed up I'll pop back in later to give it a try.

Anyway, I decided to forget about adding the text in the footer.
But, I do have another question, I'd like links & galleries to open in a new window. Can this be done?

I wasn't aware that html could be inserted into the fields.
edited this in after--stupid me, just scrolled down & didnt see the options--nevermind
Since you're here, in the wordpress classic theme, the little green bar at the bottom, where the link to powered by wordpress is, what file name is this so I can edit/change it. thanks

In admin goto Links click edit and near the bottom of the edit page there is an option for Target. Choices are _blank, _top and none.

I found that right after I made the above post. been a long day. I should've known that because I used this feature before

As for the footer just control the width, to keep the text from going behing the side bar.
