imo affiliates do not want to have to worry about 2257

they rather have that be the sponsors responsibility

My suggestion was more like a link on that page, maybe back to the main page...with the affiliate link.

Lots of gallery pages have the 2257 link on them. I'm sure there's a % of curious surfers who check these out.

On the link you gave as an example, the surfer could just cut off the end and get to the main page...without any affiliate code, the owner would get the credit and not the webmaster sending traffic.
