flying? The Vegas trip is my first plane ride in over 6 years and still a little leary about it. I always think of falling from 30,000 feet and that freaks me out. I need to score some zanax somewhere. Just curious if anyone else has a fear of flying?
Anyone else afraid of....

I used to fly all the time overseas and now for some reason last few years not real fond of it. So I will have to get back into it.Comment

The fucked up thing is I love take off and landing which is the most dangerous time...I hate just sitting up there not in control. I have an early morning flight to Vegas and midweek, so hope to get through security fast.Comment

I know they can withstand huge forces before failure...that is huge, 26 feet. wowOriginally posted by BVI'm not afraid of flying, I'm just afraid that the plane might quit flying over some human error.
Consequently did you know that a Boeing 747 can flex it's wings 26 feet before they snap.Comment

I've flown chicago/denver countless times. Flying the route I've had bad turbulence once, (just made my nuts hurt - was more fun watching everyone else freak out), and had an engine noise once which was two hours of this annoying as fuck sound - god that drove me insane.Originally posted by Viper2K1I rather fly 30000 feet high than driving my car on the road where very depressed/drunk fucker can kill me
Drove chicago/denver seven times. Once time Chicago to Denver, 4am on 80 in Nebraska there was dude that flew past me(I was doing 85 - he musta been at 60+), took me a minute to realize HE WAS ON MY SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. Now that really gave me a sick feeling and had a hard time driving the rest of the way.
Moral of the story - I'll take some turbulence any day over the shit that happens daily on the road.

i dont have a fear of flying (i do it all the time) but i hate having a cold or sinus/allergieries acting up cuz when the planes landing, the pressure feels like like a million of tiny needles in my brain, trying to push outward through my forehead...hurts so bad!!
and im flying on Monday (2 days), and im sick

Ya, it's not the fall from 30,000 feet it is the sudden stop at the end. I agree, roads are worse. There are 70,000 flights a day in the air so odd are nil...I like being in control I guess.Comment

Only during turbulence. Had one time during a thunderstorm where it was so bad the wings were literally bouncing up and down and stuff fell out of the overhead bins and everyone had that sweaty fearful WTF look on their face. LOL
Also one time in a helicopter and the engine started to make a real fucked up sound and the whole cabin started to shake. And we were over the ocean so it was really scary as the pilot dropped alitude and scrambled to get it back to normal.
I'm always amazed that much weight can lift off the ground to begin with.
