    Internet Check Processing?

I am thinking of adding an online check-processor to my catalog page. I sell mostly dvds and videos, so I actually do get some checks every month by snail mail.

Does anybody have any experiences with any to recommend or avoid, and is it even worth the bother, anyone?

I expect I will get some bad checks, but most of the time I am selling a dvd for $37.99 that costs me a total of $1.89 to burn so for all I care my bad check rate could go to 50% and I'd make money.

Are you sure? It was my understanding that they make DVDs by putting them on old record players and scratch them with the needle.

            Magic markers..heh..would have never guessed.

We burn them ourselves 7 at a time in towers - you stick in the blank media, click on the movie you want (hard disk holds 24) and 30 minutes later 7 dvds pop out and you start again.

Then you walk them over to the printng station where some ink jet porn turns them into works of art.

Then you pack them up and ship them out, and hope your charge card processor who is already fucking you out of 15% doesn't terminate your account because a single asshole says he ordered VHS...

Isnt there a higher rate of fraud when accpeting checks since it take a couple days to actually process and make sure funds are available?

We stopped accepting online checks becuase of lack of funds and some other issues that was total bs on the part of buyers.

That's basically the crux of my question. How many people are going to rip me off this way?

                        Strainer,

Accepting checks for hard goods is as simple as putting a 1 week delay before shipping the product. It is done in Catalogue sales all the time. Wait for the check to clear and then ship. Just disclose it as your policy.

We will be happy to discuss your situation with you and tell you what we can do. [email protected]

One more thing. If you really want to understand how checks work and how to take the best advantage of them, you should check out http://www.achdebit.com/sales/study.html

There is a reason why all the Industry leaders accept checks! Don't leave money on the table.

I was looking through my sales from 98 I think with WTS the other day, a trial membership from back then is worth on average 105$ so far. And I still have rebills.
                              Not too shabby.

What are you worried about? Loosing 3 days worth of bandwidth?

We stopped accepting on-line checks because of lack of funds and some other issues that was total bs on the part of buyers.
It takes 3 days for 80% of returned items to comeback. I can't understand why you would stop accepting checks either. You make more money with LESS risk! Especially with all the credit card uprising going on right now.

Simply put. On-line checks have a longer retention rate than credit cards, higher conversion rates from trial, lower processing fees, and overall lower risk... Now be good and click the sig.
