installing linux

ok im new to this whole linux thing

i was told to download linux mandrake from an ftp site so i downloaded this file which is like 1.8gig btw and i dont know what to do now

your meant to be able to put it on cd or somthing but i dont know how

what do i need to do?

Get nero its a burning program and use it to burn the files onto cds.

but which files onto which cds? just any?

I would suggest you just pick up a cd set that is ready to go. Try http://www.cheapbytes.com/ they are like 4 or 5 bucks Otherwise grab the .iso files and then use nero burning which was suggested above, but you need to get the ISO files to make a bootable CD !!
