If your rewiring for cable RG-59 is a mistake You can get away with it but its better to upgrade. Go with RG-6, its the standard for most cable companies now due to the higher signal demands for digital systems and the DB loss per foot is less than RG-59. Crimp not twist connectors is the way to go and if you can get them, snap and seal connectors are the preferred way to cap your lines, and a single splitter at the wall junction is best, in house splitters will only cause you grief. Go with that setup and you'll be ready for satellite, cable, whatever you wanna throw at it.

And if you are a fiend go with RG-11 through the whole house, although there is no need for it and its overkill you'll have almost no DB loss whatsoever for the short runs required for in house wiring.
