    Wind Farm Constructon (PICS)

I was told yesterday that a wind farm was under construction a few miles from my house. So I decided to take a drive and grab a few shots.

Each windmill stands 400' tall and can power 200 homes. They are still building them so they are not spinning yet and you can see a few under construction.

These things are absolutely mind boggling when you stand right under one.

Feel free to contact spencer @ p2pads.com for pricing and campaign availability. We currently have a waiting list for new clients.

As far as spam complaints go, we have gotten an occasional angry email over the last year. Most of them think we have somehow infected their computer with adware to generate the popups. We reply with a simple explanation for why they are seeing pop ups and if they joined one of the sites and downloaded their content legitimately they would have a much better user experience

They're pretty cool. I heard they're really expensive though, like $1MM / wind station.

They're a farmer's best friend. In Australia, you can get like $50,000 PER WIND thing you have on your property, and they take up about 4 sq.m.

It looks like they are scattering them on different farmers fields. I would suspect that the payoff would be a much needed boost for most of them.

I had to do a project on wind turbines for my Electromechanics class last semester.
Really cool tech and very useful. Enviromentally friendly too.
I think something like 13% of the power consumed in Sweden comes from offshore wind farms.

of them. Very impressive. Lots of wind in that area.

These things are so easily damaged, windmills aren't the future, but nuclear energy is!

Windmills are bad for the environment and not sustainable as everyone thinks.

Care to qualify that statement? What is the evironmental imact of a windmill that creates energy from a free resource without destroying the source?

                            How are they not sustainable?

You can setup a single home or small business one for around $40-50k, and a lot of areas have grants available to cut that in half. I know California will chip in big time.

I recently read about these, while it wouldn't be feasible for me, especially since I have a very efficient house and my electric needs even during the summer heat are low, are extremely appealing.

If I lived in a rural area, I would definitely use these to supplement public power.

Your electric company will purchase your remainder electricity, either through a meter reverse or a second meter.

The costs for the maintenance of the windmills are very high.

In Sweden there is a big windmill park. More than 60% is not working, because they are damaged.

In Holland we have a lot of those stupid things, they cost a lot of money. The costs are higher than the earnings.

Nuclear energy is so much better, cheaper and cleaner. But those environmental freaks think that nuclear energy is bad etc.. if done properly it is the cleanest energy source in the world.

There is a whole field of them just outside of Palm Springs and it is quite breathtaking to see. It's a 2 hour drive out there from LA and when I hit the wind farm it's like seeing the Emerald City through the field of poppies, after a long drive you know you're almost there. It's a really great way to enter the Palm Springs area.

They look huge but you don't get the full scope until you see that last pic you posted where you can see the tiny little people standing on the left hand side of the photo. Thanks for posting those.

Why do we need a wind farm? Don't we already have enough wind?

If you put instant coffee in the microwave, do you go back in time?
