It is based on link popularity but not solely this. You also need quality links, like from Yahoo or DMOZ, these quality links will boost your ranking by 2-3 PR. You can check your PR by downloading the Google search bar and hitting your site with it.

I tried that a couple years ago with a domain and it got blacklisted, I made the <H1> text the same color as the background and put it back a layer with Z-index7Comment
