HELP: HOST.com on one server and sub.HOST.com on another.

    Guys,

Im working on some new stuff right now and need some help. I asked a lot of people this and no one knows, i was wondering if you guys can help me.

Lets say my site is HOST.com. I want HOST.com on a dedicated server but make a subdomain subdomain.HOST.com and have that on another dedicated server. Is this possible?

I this ebaumsworld.com is doing this. His main domain ebaumsworld.com is on one server and i think forum.ebaumsworld.com is on another.

Any help would be really, really appreciated.

It's easy just set up the subdomains in your DNS to point to the correct IP.

Just add an A entry on hostone to resolve sub.host.com to X ip.. easy enough

Damn, the only way i know how to make subdomains is by cpanel. And i have no clue how to point them to another ip.

Guess i will have to hire someone to do this.

You need to setup your own DNS or use a service. Depending on where your domain is registered you can do it from there and have a sub domain point to a different IP address.

Directnic has that feature and Im pretty sure most major registrars have it.

Or do that if you know how to modify your host records on your server.

just set an IN A record in dns

so if you have in your zone

                IN A 209.237.255.27
                www IN A 209.237.255.27

                just add

                sub IN A 204.198.24.18

if that was the ip, update the serial, then reload dns

then just make an apache entry for that.

Do you have managed or unmanaged hosting? If managed, then an admin can set that up for you no problem.

                  Webair Hosting

I use and recommend Webair for hosting.
