I have to give CuteFTP good reviews too
As for getting the passwords back out of her... use ShowPass from this page: http://packetstorm.securify.com/Win/

I have used a number of ftp clients, and I prefer CuteFTP. WS_FTP leaves those weird ass files all over the damn place, but it has the handy option of deleting full directories on your server, that saves time. But I like Cute best.
Why can't you just import the old database into the new copy of Cute?Comment

DO NOT download the ShowPass zip file from the above page! It contains a Trojan password stealing VIRUS in the .exe file! I checked it with Norton Anti-Virus before unzipping it. Sheesh!Originally posted by DragonAss:

Do you know the name of the Trojan or how it works? I'm curious becuase I monitored my ports and then used ShowPass. After running it, using it, closing it and waiting about 15 minutes, I checked to see if there was any activity on the line but no packets/datagrams had been sent anywheres. I also use PC-cillin but it never reported anything unusual (not that PC-cillin is an authority on it).Originally posted by pet:

Just curious how the little bugger works, what to look for and how to get it out of my face if need be

Dragon, run that drive thru Nortons online virus scanner and see if it finds the virus in your copy.
Norton all the way! Ptooey on PC and all of those other av's.
On ftp, we still use that antique but very workable ftpexplorer.

One easy statement:
CUTE FTP LICKS SWEATY NUTSComment

Gemini..your an idiot...of course it shows it as a password stealer, because it un-hides your password. People could use it in part with another program to rip off your password.
SO go tell your mommy how proud you are of your Nortons Skills.Comment

Ok, i've got another question, when i login to a terra.es account, it wont display any of the folders, yet it gets passed the authorization process.
I then tried it with another ftp client, and it works like a charm.
Whats going on with CUTEFTP? :PComment

It sounds like CuteFTP is hiding the directories on you. Try using a filter for that site or checking that you don't have filters hiding directories. I can't seem to find a nice easy listing for all the filter masks at the moment (try downloading the CuteFTP docs), but the filter I use on a couple sites is "-rtaF". Some of the RedHat/ftp-server combos cause CuteFTP to hide all hidden files on me and that particular filter (-rtaF) makes it so I can see them again. Not sure what results it will have with terra.es but it's easy enough to tweak around and/or remove againOriginally posted by Pure:

When I scanned the zip file, Norton came back with a message saying that the .exe file inside the zip file (and I'm quoting from memory, which may not be perfect) "contains a password-stealing Trojan virus." I went to the link for the website listed for the author and the site is for sale. Now to me, if the guy is no longer in business, and Norton says it's a virus, I'm not going to chance it. I just deleted the zip file and ran a hard disk virus scan, just to be safe.Originally posted by DragonAss:
