Webmaster program debate

Suppose you just opened a brand new site. Pretty generic niche but with outstanding quality exclusive content.

Option #1.
You open up a webmaster program.... buy spots on ynot etc.. to promote your program, posts on forums (I didn't say spam on forums I said post) etc.. to promote your program.

Pretty soon you'll have a bunch of decent site but also some cjs and gallery kiddies pushing your shit left and right and pretty soon your conversions go to shit. Site would get "played out" quickly.

Option #2

Have a 'select' affiliated webmaster program where only people you know/trust and that you refer, are allowed to promote your site.

Option #3

NO partner program but you get to work your butt off to promote your site.


What option would you choose and why?

option 2 is far out the better one....but what is wrong with a lot of traffic from script junkies...a visitor is a visitor

If you got exclusive content, let webmaster use it to promote it. I'm not saying give it ALL to them at once. Give maybe 200 free pics to webmasters, once they send a sale or two and you can see it is from normal adult websites, give them the rest. The sites I have the best conversions and make the most money do that.
Also, you don't need to push the program that hard yourself, have a webmaster referal option, 5 or 10% is normal, and if ppl are doing nice conversions, they will refer others for you. Just look at oxcash, they just recently started a webmaster referal program, but they got huge just off of word of mouth.

i guess so but it's all about in the quality of the visitor. 100,000 hits from CJ are much worse that getting 100,000 hits from thehun. 100,000 from thehun are way worse than 100,000 Google Hits (halleluja)

I think a combination of 1 and 2 would be best.

Have open admission to the reseller proggie. Set up a webmaster free content section and let them have what's in there to promote with.

Give your heavy hitters a members pass and let them do what they do best.

Also, if you own a paysite, you WANT crap traffic from cj's and blind links etc.
Learn how to work the exit consoles to increase your bottom line. If the newbie doesn't know how to filter and qualify his traffic and converts at 1 in 2000, then that's 1999 impressions on your exit consoles that you can filter and make some bank on.

Also, I strongly suggest you do #3 BEFORE you let people resell for you. You need to test out your conversion and retention ratios.
If I send you 100 members and you only keep 15 of them, you'll never get another hit of my traffic. And I'm pretty sure that most resellers feel the same way. You need to be 100% sure that we're both going to make $$ off of the traffic I send you before you ask me to send it.

Combo of Option 1 and 2

Open a general program, but take your heavy hitters and give them higher payouts, faster payouts, more content, range of advertising options, etc.
