I'm fairly confident that Googlebot (and others) don't visit just as a function of how many inbounds you have or anything else. It's a function of how often you update your content. (probably combined with how popular your site is, but largely based on update frequency).

if every time it shows up, your site is up, and has new stuff... it might check more frequently. It's not just running around blindly following every link though.
