Sounds like a video card issue, check minimum reqiurements for the game, and check out what your video card is in the settings. You may also need to configure the game manually to your vid card.

I had this problem here's the solution:

turn the sound quality down . sounds nuts but it fixes it. try it

Hey guys, go to gta3 website and look around there. A few weeks back I saw a post on the site about XP problems. There was a link to Microsoft's website for a patch. Wish I had the URLs but this is a known problem with XP......98SE rules !

I've had both XP Pro and XP Home..

                      XP Home sucks..

in any case, I'd get a PS2.... bigger screen.. and if you have surround sound, better sound

Amazing how people still use a 5 year old operating system & love it. One of the best products microsoft ever made i suppose.

Oh & thanks for the tips guys

Go to rockstargames website and download the patch for the game. I was having lots of problems when playing and after i downloaded the patch it is working real good.

On the other hand, using xp with a 128 ram would be a problem itself.

I have had big problems with GTA3 and XP..
infact that is the reason I dont' play it at all..
50% of the time when I closed the program down it would reboot my machine..
                            fucking annoying shit
