I brought back a bottle form Prague last may and tried it several times overthere, just the buzz of consumming regular alcohol in my opinion, a little stronger for sure. I would not take 10 shots of it in a night though.

As with many other fine things in life, there are many many many knock-offs, which 9/10 times are poor imitations.

From what I know, the real Absinthe cannot be imported in to North America.

Artemisia spp. or wormwood rocks! Thusly, absinthes, which contain high levels of, are fun.


It is a hell of a lot better than salvia ... now that shit is a joke. Tried it and ... and ... and uh, what the fuck did I just spend my $ on ... kinnikinnick?

It can because we do it all the time. My husband is a fanatic about absinthe. He goes to absinthe parties where they try different kinds, including homemade. We have a dozen or so bottles here at home. There are lots of places to buy it online. I can recommend some if you need em.

My husband says to stay away from the ones from the Czech Republic as they aren't that good. We had some LaFee that was good, but he says it's for tourists. He's a big fan of the Spanish and French brands, but the current most popular in the house is the Suisse La Bleue. If you can find it, I recommend it. I hate absinthe, but I like that one.

Absinthe (the original recipe) is banned in the US, still. (It is said that the original 'formula' has not been reproduced since the early 1900's, let alone imported in to the US.)

Absente, Absinthe Refined, is a modern version of the original Absinthe recipe. It's still the same aromatic, dazzling emerald green liqueur made from a combination of exotic botanicals.
The only difference is we replaced Wormwood, the botanical that caused the initial ban, with a less bitter cousin called Southern-Wormwood, also known as "Petite Absinthe," which allows us to offer Absente in the United States.



Current absinthe contain very very small doses of -->southern<-- wormwood or thujone, and some, such as 'Absente' contain NONE of the toxins. (Not trying to rain on any parades.)


Some studies say wormwood was the killer of many, while others know it was the constant use of 150-proof alcohol.

Those that believe it is overrate only think they have tried it ... grab some wormwood and then your opinion will matter.

Absinthe is bullshit imo, anything you get in north america has small amounts of wormwood (the drug that gets you high) because we normally get the bottom of the barell.

it tastes like pure crap but if you have a strong liver you can shoot down a bottle and you will def. be tanked.

no one i have met has ever gotten "high" off of it, though i am sure if you looked hard enough around the internet you could find absinthe with a high dosage of wormwood.

or you could always buy wormwood seperatley and mix it into your drink. the would most def. increase the limited effects.

He just keeps it in the liquor cabinet with the other booze. When he mixes them, he puts about a shot into the bottom of a glass. Then he drips ice cold water over a sugar cube and into the glass. I'd say the glass is about 4oz and it's 1 oz absinthe and 3oz water.
