I think it's a big mistake to not send all your known employees to the shows.

Here's the thing.....MANY affiliates have built rapport with your account reps and other employees from these boards. They look forward to meeting and partying with these employees. The greener the affiliate the more it means to them to meet these people and develop relationships.

It doesn't matter if your employee is a janitor or the V.P. of sales.....If they have an established personality and open communication with people then get their face out there and let them be seen AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

It's ALL a bout branding...PERIOD.

You don't have to throw parties or expensive dinners to do this....Just show up and network.

Every long term business relationship that I have includes people I have met in person. If your networker bees are missing shows then it is costing you money.

Going to the shows should also be considered a privilege. If you fuck up, you may lose that privilege.

Now, if I had a rep that did it more than once and it was a destructive sort of thing....I'd fire them. Hell, I'd most likely fire them during the show the first time if they were being destructive.

RRRED is not even close to being in this type of category - just kinda strange that for one of the primary shows of the year, and one of the primary companies in the biz that she's not representing @ the show

Although I would like to see RRRed at these shows, there I one thing to keep in mind....

Lensman has the Webmaster Access shows now. Perhaps....And I may be jumping to conclusions here....But perhaps he is not as interested in putting money into competing shows?

A good amount of large companies don't send reps to the shows.. Often enough nobody from the company will go.. Ifriends and NastyD come to mind.. Lots really.. Many with families don't go.

I don't ever goto the FL show.. I hit 2 a year, Vegas and Phoenix.. Better than none I guess

This year I'm only doing four shows - Vegas, Phoenix Forum, San Diego, and then YP Mexico. Although I'm well known and perhaps even liked by some, I'm an operations kind of guy and my contact with affiliates is limited. Other than supporting Steve Lightspeed and Sweetums, flying the company colors, and generally making an ass out of myself there is no real reason for me to go.

Good post, it's a very good idea; main reason I'd think they don't fly everyone down is that they're not big enough to; but if you're a 2 person operation, if at least one person can afford to go (I know it's not THAT expensive, but it potentially could be) then they should go, it'll be worthwhile if you're polite, respectful and not an idiot with anyone. Doh'pe
