UGH...ICQ help... PLEASE

I tried to sign in and it keeps telling me I tried to log in too many times and gives me that damn 0124 error.

I only tried once, waited 15 min tried again, around and around I go.

Anybody know what the heck I do, other than switch to trillian.

Their help center is useless.

try deleting a few people from your contact list, this is sometimes a bug
also, add more allowed hard drive space

Lori, I know there are many reasons to this - first, check your settings that you don't have it attempting to connect to their servers every 10-20 seconds - put like 999 seconds for now. Then what I've tried and worked was shutting down the connection - then restarting the computer. Wait the 15 minutes and then try turning it on again.

My ICQ keeps getting disconnected after I send 10-15 messages to ppl and it doesn't save History ...

i can only load icq late at night now - during the day i have to use icq java - goto icq.com and use the 'icq anywhere' option - the java version seems to work best for me, flash fucks up a lot on me- only thing that sucks is you can't save your messages or cut and paste from what was sent. but at least it works.

I've been that way for over a year now. Icq has horrible programing issues

i get the same server issues i use web based half the week till 8pm when normal starts working again.

now icq won't recognize my pw so i put in my email address to make sure I have correct pw only for it to not recongize my email address either. THEY SUCK! I am going to research trillian right now

I've been through and helped a few peeps with similar issues, and none were hacks, but rather old versions of ICQ and a lengthy password (7 & 8 characters).

If your running an older version of ICQ (not ICQ5):

- Download and install ICQ5 (nothing else .. do not uninstall the older version)
- Download and install ICQ history converter (available from their site)
- Run converter
- Start ICQ5 and BINGO (I hope)
- uninstall old version.

I get rate limit errors with icq 5 on 2 comps upgrading to icq 5 does not solve the problem.

yes i know but i did not connect more than once when it came up and then continued to even after long intervals.

i got a new icq number now I need to know how to import my list from old number into new and icq is not helpful at all.

ok! things are looking up . got my pw, but now it still says too many attempts. i'm back to square one but at least I'm not completely lost. LOL
