Which car alarm should I be looking at?

Soon enough I'm going to be parking in Liverpool on a daily basis. If you haven't been there then believe me, it isn't the nicest of places.

My sister's boss had his brand new Merc stolen there. He must've spent upwards £120k on that shit, had it less than a week when two guys followed and threatened him with a crow bar... needless to say he doesn't have it any more. Alarm wouldn't have helped much, but you can see, not a nice area.

Anyway, I don't want to leave my car parked around without some good security on it. It is for a 2002 Saxo VTS. It already has an immobiliser, and is having the door pins removed on Monday. The CD player has a detachable front so I'm not too worried about that. There are so many car alarms to choose from, for about $500 (or less?) it should be possible to get something good. Something that makes a HUGE FUCKING NOISE!

Which one should I be looking at?

Any suggestions please?

Get a viper alarm, just make sure you get a hood pin installed or they will cut the hood open and snip the alarm wires

Get a pitbull in a baby's car seat, or... a viper.

Either one works great.

I used leave an empty holster and an ampty rack of ammo on the front seat of my M3...never even got a door ding in that ho let alone stolen...one time I even left the keys in it for a week when I went out of town.

As far as I know, a car alarm will not be a detractor for a good car thief, just like the Club is useless. You should get that Lojack tracking shit installed.

I used to have an 8 foot burmese python that made for a nifty anti-theft device

I don't worry for stolen cars, I can find it within 30min in 90% of the cases and have it back. The annoying is having your glass broken in attempt to stole your cdplayer.

an area of greater Vancouver (Surrey) is the car theft capital of North America, averaging more per capita then anywhere else in Canada or US. We also have strict gun laws here so maybe there isn't enough deterent for people to think twice here in Canada?

No one seems to pay attention to car alarms to be honest here in Phiilly burbs, everyone has em. They go off blaring everyone walks by, more of an annoyance than thinking of theft.

Get a nice quality kill switch or any other aftermarket device that can immobilze the car totally, so, the worst that will happen is you have to replace glass if it gets broke by some asshole (I have had to after a break in on my old car, it sucks major balls), but it beats not having a ride at all.

i got the viper 550plus with the remote start built in...no complaints.
