Hey I have been reading these "As GFY Turns" threads tonight and I want to pop in and give an opinion I guess unbiased as to the situation.
I do not know both sides of this argument, and do not know Rory personally but, these threads seem to go around a general topic;
Equipment, money, lost time and a deal gone VERY bad.
As to what I understand so far, Rory paid a partial deposit on a project, and BTW from what I understand got a deal so great I couldn't touch it, and I try and make the best deals I can!!! and then desided to pull out of the deal on AaronM for whatever reason, decided against Karoke porn(good choice in killing the niche of tone deaf women singing nude), or just couldn't oafford, only Rory knows the true reason behind his decison.
AaronM tells him he isnt going to do the deal(after 5 shoots have been cancelled) and Rory says he wants his equipment and money back. OK, I have had this happen, as I am sure most content providers have. I agree with AaronM on requiring 100% of the shoot upfront, easy to get burned after the deal is done....case in point....
AaronM says no problem, he wasnt making much, if any, on this deal so has no problem with this. Says to Rory to come pick his equipment up and as soon as he can will pay Rory back his money. Now Rory has had, by his own admission, had this deposit with AaronM since July. Decides recently(last week or so) he wants his cash back. AaronM says ok, but will take a bit to get it back to him, but he WILL get it back to him. I have read Rory bitching that AaronM has not told him a reasonable time to get his money. But by a thread posted on the "deleted" thread, AaronM waiting for hours for a no-show Rory, when he could have been doing his job, which on Rory is not a reasonable time frame to make someone wait for you. Now AaronM appears to be making Rory wait, and by what I have read I think I would probably do the same....
Hell I would mail it FedEx to him and wipe my hands clean and not speak to or about him again......
But the main point I guess I am trying to make is, if he had the funds and equipment with AaronM for so long with no problem what does a few days have to do with the level of assault I am witnessing? I know that is someone said they wanted to squeese my bald fat head till my eyes popped out, I would just as soon start bashing shit as to give over cash..
