    2257 software update

As promised, an update on the 2257MadeEasy software experience....
after upgrading to XP Pro (required to run the software on your local machine), I enabled IIS (to run the machine as a local server) and installed the software.
There are flash movie instructions on the site, for every step - which was appreciated because I had no idea how IIS worked. I ran into a problem with read-only files, but there was even a flash movie on how to correct that problem if it occurs.
So far, I've entered all the producer and site information - absolutely no problem, the cross-referencing all seems to work perfectly so far.
I'll have finished downloading all the content to my machine by later today and will start associating models, URLs and content with the producers and sites then...will report back afterward.
But so far, the software is performing flawlessly :-)
For the cost of the XP upgrade (about $100) and the software (about $50)...I'm delighted with it so far :-)

(the referrer link is in my sig...but if i wasn't having a good experience, it would already be gone.)

    Not so fast, cowboy.

    I am one not happy.

This script has been written in asp. Programmer should have known that not everyone is familiar with windows environment and that further support might be needed.

He left me out in the blue recently saying he can't help with my problems uploading the script or even making it work at the server level. His solutions were far too simpler and when he was asked for further help he politely told me to fuck off.

So far, I changed to two different windows hosts services and a third one recommended by him, from which I am still waiting for the set up... after a day.

All in all, I got the script 3 days ago and I still haven't seen shit working. So...

He does not know why my pc can't change folders to become writeable and after the change, he does not know why uploading the database file -finally made writeable-, still does not work.

Yes, the script looks promising. But the programmer should go out of his way to make it work for his clients.

    Watch out!

      not so fast, hoss.

first of all, you may not be happy, but that's no reason to slam me. i'm just telling people about my experience, as i promised.

the difference seems to be that you're working on a remove server, while I'm working on a local machine. i have no idea what might or might not have happened if i was trying to run this on a remote server.

since the revised 2257 requires that everything be maintained at the place of business, most attorneys are saying that hosting on a remove server does *not* satisfy 2257, so i haven't even gone there.

and i can't speak to what your problems have been - all i know is that even before i bought the program, i asked about running it locally, and he made the changes so that could be done. when i said i didn't know anything about iis, he made the two flash vids walking people through the installation step by step. and i wasn't even a customer yet, and i still don't even know the guy, i just wasn't going to buy the program if i couldn't use it.

so far my experience has been terrific. just my for people who've been waiting for a script.

Care to give your legal opinion on your software on box 1 and the sites on box 2? Ive had some ppl talk bout that and to be honest I dont think thats a solution thats 2257 compliant.

See : our servers are US, home pc arent. I dont see how that can be 2257 ok.

not a lawyer, don't give legal opinions :-(

i just know from my reading and from my (very experienced adult) lawyer's advice, the required records have to be kept at your place of business and NOT on a server.

i think (and just my opinion) that if you have the sites on one server, the records on another --- AND you download the records and all the site material to your own location, that you're find, as long as they're all cross-indexed...by mirroring the 2257 software/records on your home machine, or possibly by (and i know the 2257madeeasy software can export reports) printing out the report from the server software to your home machine.

what i've done is mirror all my sites' explicit content on a home computer and then run the software on that same computer...don't know if that helps but it seems to be working for me and my lawyer says that's fine.

Err so we gotta mirror all our content on my home pc and go from there?

You gotta be kidding me, so youre gonna provide me a few terrabyte drives as well? Besides like I said my home pc isnt in the US, that would be the first problem.

Its gotta run on the same server the content is imho.

hey, that's what lawyers are for...check with one for their opinion. i'm just telling you what mine says...and before they revised the 2257 regs that were first proposed last year, it didn't even allow you to have the material stored digitally - you had to have a HARD copy of every pic and movie.

i'm just trying to be helpful here...talk to a lawyer and then do what you think you need to do.

are you a moron or do you just not bother to read?
I have said numerous times...I am NOT selling anything. I don't even know the guy who is selling it.
I have BOUGHT this software and am reporting back on how it works for me...and so far, it works great for my needs. I know a lot of people have been frantically waiting for 2257 software that has been promised but not released...this one is out and I'm telling people that I bought it and it works for my needs.
I'm not a lawyer. I'm not a programmer. I'm not a software company. I have sites and a program, and am telling other people that I bought this and liked it.
IS THAT SO FUCKING HARD TO UNDERSTAND??????

Well I purchased 2257 Made Easy and I am impressed with it. It was a little of a pain to install (running it local on my network), but I emailed Adam and he tried to help me get it working, but I ended up doing some creative stuff. After entering Sites, Producers, Some Models with Content sets and Items, I did some cross searching and it worked Flawlessly.

I think this is a great program, you should check it out and see for yourself.

                      Just my
