I was just playing around, I ganked that off the local pd's home page. The handcuff's I got off googles image search. Took me maybe 2 minutes to make. You can have it for free if you like, but if anyone ask, you didn't get it from me ;)

I think that these "design contests" are a crock of shit ... and a shitty way to do business ...

Us designers earn our living doing design work, and with the sudden trend of having design contests, it is very unfair that everybody who enters the contest puts the effort into doing the said design job ... but only one person is going to get paid for it ??

I want to have my house painted ... I think I am going to have a different painting company do each room ... and I am only going to pay the one that I like best ... C'MON PEOPLE !!

I mean why do we have PORTFOLIOS in our sites ???
It is so that prospective clients can see examples of our work, to aide them in making an informed decision in chosing a design company to hire ...

I'm sorry ... having 20, 30, or even more people make a design for you, and paying only the one you like best is not fair ...

These design contests have to end ... or else lets level the playing field :

lets have all the sponsors put all the names of every webmaster that sends them signups each day in a hat, and draw one name each day to pay ... (hehee - I think some sponsors are already using this method ... LOL)

I understand Hungryman's point totally, but for me I love these things.

I get tired of coding all freaking day and these quick contests are fun as far as I'm concerned.

I will pay everybody uhm ? 10 bucks?? for their effort and on Wednesday pay the designer whose logo I am taking for my site the 100 bucks.

You all are always soo busy. I tried emailing 3 designers in the past 4 days regarding my logo. But I didn't even get an answer back. Everybody is so busy.. So I thought it would be a kewl idea to put it up as a contest.

But you have a valid point. I am taking everybodies time and effort. But at least I got some attention and finally found 2 designs I really like.

What I got done here in less than 1 day I was unable to do in the past 4 days.

The guys who already submitted the pictures to me via email. Let me know if $ 10.00 is fair for your effort.. I pay with paypal

I think contests are fair only if the payout is greater than the actual going price.

Like the icecoldcash contest was fair cause a 7.5k payout is more than a fair payout to get for the winning design. not to mention they kicked $4k extra for the runners up...

the 7.5k payout was for a full paysite design, not a logo =D

I wasnt saying that would be a fair price for this contest, i think the $100-$200 that you were offering is good.

I agree with steffie - I have written a bunch of the graphics people on here - and got only two people so far that were willing to take my money.

I wasn't trying to do anything but hire someone.

Seems like some of the designers on here must really rake in the bucks to turn away customers like that.

I agree - people want to get paid for their work, but there are also talented people on here that don't have the "reputation" that some on here do.

No one has to participate in these contests, and if I was so busy I couldn't answer emails - then I wouldn't need to participate

I have also been amazed by the number of professionals that (and this isn't just designers) DON'T PAY ATTENTION to what the client asks for.

I remember seeing in the sleazy thread - specific requirements he wanted - and people posting graphics (without commenting) that CLEARLY did not meet those - this can tell you more about a designer than his or her portfolio.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks to XA Graphics and SpyCam for being willing to take my money and doing a good job.

Good, I am glad the 100 is fair. I never know what to pay..

I have had 2 very talented designers make some of my sites (6 so far) and they averaged about 350 for a 5 page tour including the join page. And I found them on this board. So thats really awesome.

I suck in design, however I can throw something up really quick. Than after a while I look at it and say to myself OMFG Steffie YOU SUCK. So I run to GFY in the spur of the moment and need something like yesterday.

I am an impulse buyer and I am not rich.

Like with the logo tonight. I wanted something 3-4 days ago really bad, however nobody answered so I went to the board.
Sorry to upset some in (maybe) the way I did it, but hell I got some really kewl designs out of it.

I am so happy ;-))))
