    Limiting bandwidth

This is just a note for anyone who is running a dedicated server of colocating and paying for bandwidth based on peak Mbps. One of the companies I do some work for had me installe mod_throttle on their server to keep the free sites from getting out of hand with bandwidth. After installing the program the peak bandwidth went from 9 mbps to 4.7 mbps by delaying request by a second or two during peak times. This program is well worth the effort if you are running a bunch of freesites.

All that will do is Slow your sites down during those peak hours. You should be paying on average usage not peak, and then your always fast and you bill is reasonable.

Move to another host. Anyone telling you to throttle your traffic is a fucking idiot.

Pay for average usage not peak.
Say you have 6 hours in a row of low bandwidth usage, then your traffic explodes for several hours and your mod_throttle kicks in. Isn't that kinda shitty?
