Temporary Content

So... Our sites don't feature hardcore content. It's not what we're about, and not a market we want to compete with. Anyhow, from time to time, we do do the occasional hardcore shoot, usually very personal and real stuff.

This brings me to my question... Do you think Temporary Content on paysites is something that can be a draw? With a recent set we put up, we set a limit that it would only be up for one month. The idea is to encourage people to join *now* rather than waiting, to hurry up the lurkers who are thinking about it. It is also a nice bonus for people who are currently members, to remind them that there are cool benefits to being a member, and keep them on board.

So, do you think stuff like this can help increase signups?

And, since you were patient enough to read through my babbling, a couple of bonus thumbs...

I think you're defeating the point of your site by doing that. Your current surfers are there for the chicks, not the hardcore sex. My opinion is you're a very targeted niche site and you should stay so. Why not work instead on a new site for hardcore goths or sumthing like that. Or just sell that kind of content to other websites who already offer that kinda stuff

Keeping sets on for a month or two only isn't a bad idea. Its a principle AlsScan has worked too, and clearly with success. He then brings some sets back after a year or so, as a bonus to members but only for a limited time.

The idea of keeping people on board or convincing them to join "now" rather than later, otherwise they may "miss" content altoghther is a good one.

I think its a great Idea but I would turn it into a monthly thing and promote it and maybe try a different niche each time even hardcore goth fans like other stuff to it might help with retention as well

Seems like people are cool with the basic strategy. I am hoping it will work out well, and if it does, we may try it with other sets. Since we produce our own content, and don't want to do a lot of hardcore, I am not sure how regularly we could do it, though.

Dildozer-- I can see your point, but our site is not that narrowly targetted. We do a lot of different photo sets, and try to have variety. Having a fetishy or dark hardcore set doesn't really take away from what people are looking for, from what I have seen.

Anyhow, this has all given me more to think about. Once I see how this set goes, maybe more will come from this as a regular thing.

Someone had a site where after 3 months of being a member, you would get access to more of the site. That might be a draw to get longer memberships, i.e., i'll offer this for one month, then only give it to members that have been here 3 months or longer.

Well ALL of the content on my membership site at http://www.girlsdotcom.com is temporary. I have no permanent content. At any given time, I have 25 "photo spreads" up (average about 300 photos per). When I add a new spread, the oldest one disappears. At the same time, I have some preview photos telling the members what's coming up. The scheduled updates are set six days apart. However, between the scheduled updates, I put up one or two bonus spreads, usually drawn from my rather huge library of photo sets. Between wanting to hang in there for the scheduled update and wanting to hang in there to see what surprises await them in the bonus updates, I keep the members interested. And this is a site with, at best, medium-core content (girl-girl, toys, female masturbation).

That's MY approach, anyway.
