Pop-ups suck

I just got this message when I tried to use NudeHost on TheHun. He brings up some very good points about using pop-ups and trapping surfers. It's bad for the future of the porn industry. I didn't know that NudeHost linked to a sponsor that traps surfers, but then I'm not in the habit of clicking on sponsor links.

You're using a sponsor that traps people on your site. this sponsor uses a program
that might be very good for them, but I think they're advertising ways are too
agressive. Click on a link to this sponsor and you'll be cought. Clicking back throws you
right back to the sponsor sometimes after popping up exit-consoles that open more
exit-consoles when you try to close 'em.

This will hurt the adult industry in the end. When a surfer is not interested (yet) in what
is offered he should be able to click back. Trapping him in an endless loop of consoles
is only going to piss the surfer off. When a surfer has this experience a couple of
times he will soon stop clicking any banners.

People should be tought that clicking banners brings 'em to stuff a free site could
never offer. they shouldn't be tought clicking on banners will result in an endless loop
of adds and consoles.

Of course I've never used consoles and don't plan to. But I'd never thought of it that way, I just thought that popups were for bastards.

How does clicking a banner pop "exit" consoles on a surfer? I thought they had to click the "back button" for that?

So, if clicking the back button makes windows pop would "he soon stop clicking his back button?"

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of "too" many consoles but they do make a few extra sales if you do it cleanly, not tooooo abusive, but just as a finaly goodbye and offering up of other "appealing choices" for them to go to

Exxxotica I have to say that I agree entirely with your statement.

Free porn may serve it's purpose getting the surfer interested. But giving the surfer enough free porn to kill a small elephant is not encouraging them to signup.

With any luck free porn sites will only be able to offer tits and ass when/if new regulations come into place. IMHO tits and ass is more provocative than full blown hardcore.

I agree. I think pop-ups are bad for the Porn Industry and annoy the hell out of the customer. Who wants to go to a site and get exit console or daughter window, one after another after another. I know it drives me crazy. I just want good quality entertainment without the bullshit. I build what I would want and hopefully that is what the customer wants as well.

Ok...I admit I dont use popups for pay programs,and do find them annoying.

However, I still believe that a site with popups is far better for our industry than a TGP.

I dont mind sites that have one pop up when the page loads in, coz it may be something interesting, but when they start popping up all over the page, it fucks me right off!

Too many popups are no good, popups in popups are even worse, but without any it would almost not be worth the effort we put into generating traffic all the time. I have fun running web sites but I have even more fun finding cheques in my mail box!

I agree with most. Pop ups do suck and to me they are pushing to much on a visitor.
When I go to visit a site and all the pop ups start I usually never visit again.
It's annoying and in some sort gives the visitors a slap in the face.
We already see enough advertising.

If surfers that use TGPs aren't buying memberships to porn sites...then how are the big TGPs and the people listed on them making so many sales? Every time I'm listed on The Hun I make like $200. Good TGPs like The Hun give good traffic. Bad TGPs that fuck their surfers by sending them to sites with pop-ups, dialers, and other crap do not send good traffic. If you go to enough TGP sites...hardcore or otherwise...you will eventually get tired of only getting 15 blurry pics at every site and realize that the only way to get access to good porn is to pay for a membership.

You obviously have to follow a certain number of rules if you want to get linked by a tgp or link site

but if you are working the (nondirectory) searchengines and don't use exit consoles, then you are probably making less money than you should
