need design software for logo design

photoshop is the most advanced software,so takes time..... if you plan to make just few logos better have some professional guy to do them.

I use this 8-yr old piece of software for almost all my designs. Gets the job done quick and effectively.

for logos i recommend you get something vector based..

Definitely Photoshop, but it's about $695.
Try Fireworks also, a lot cheaper. Or there is a little program out there (or there used to be) called PhotoDraw by Microsoft, that was extremely easy to use, and very cheap.

if you use it for logos, use Macromedia Freehand or Adobe Illustrator. Photoshop is not really the best product for professional logos.

I use it in combination with fireworks MX. Never touch photoshop.
