Putting on a button is easy.
Just get a needle and thread and run the needle through the holes a few times till it's securely attached to the shorts. You don't have to "know how to sew" a monkey could do it.

You basically just put the left side inside your pants and push it through (might have to poke a hole) then the button with a built on washer screws on and tightens up secure. What do you think?
