    Question About Shaving

No, not your face. But signups. Is it possible that a sponsor could fuck with stats if its a 3rd party billing co.? Like say Globill, do they have admin functions to do that? Or do they just approve and delete accounts?

You guys dont believe its possible?

If man can walk on the moon, shaving is possible and most likely practiced.

          This is only logical.

wouldnt be put into a 3rd party biller..they have a reputation and just about everybody and their grandma can have an affiliate program using 3rd party tracking so the word would be out...
When you have your own tracking, the only people who have a chance of knowing are the people involved

in closing,NO, 3rd parties dont have and never would have that option

              Let's set it straight here.

Paysites with 3rd party processing can still shave you, and very simply as well. I will not say how.

However, it would be somewhat difficult for a paysite to shave your rebills if the sale goes through, and they also have really no motivation to do so in a recurring program.

If you're getting per-sign, you can pretty much assume you are being shaved. This is basically impossible to prove though, so don't get all angry about it, just don't do it.

The moral - smart people (The ones that know to TRUST NO ONE) go recurring. ;>

              Cheers,

                  This thread appears so often...

Yes, it is possible for them to shave but that doesn't mean that they do it, are as likely to do it as other programs, or need to do it. Such an exploit would be using tracking software that "accidentally" loses the partner's referral ID, so that it isn't recorded in their stats when they log in at the processor.

As far as a company like Globill or iBill having an option to shave... you won't find a big "click here to shave 85%" button in the admin area. That isn't to say it can't happen. For example - it is possible to suspend the partner's account (for whatever reason through the iBill CMI for example) and un-suspend it later. I don't know whether it is still possible through iBill but I'd imagine that it is. Whether Globill has ever had that option at all, I have no idea. The suspend function isn't intended as a shaving tool just to rip honest webmasters off, of course... but if a partner's account is suspended for 1 hour of every 24 hours, assuming that their signups are roughly the same every hour of the day... it is paramount to shaving 4% of signups. Suspend for 2 hours and it takes 8%, 3 hours takes 12%, etc.

That actualy makes a lot of sense. I almost want to join Globill, just to see what the admin functions are. I'm on a 50/50 program, I'm converting really well, but if it is possible that they suspend my account 7 to 10 hours a week, then Im missing out on a lot of cash.

I know it's not fair for me to assume that a sponsor would do that, but at the same time, I'm sitting here behind my PC and I have NO CLUE whats being done with my account. I wouldnt doubt that every webmaster has been fucked, whether they know it or not, butI wanted to feel better knowing that they dont have the option.

I would think that if a Company such as Globill, is high on anti fraud, that they would focus on CC scams, and fake signups as much as they would on the webmaster running the affiliate program. I would hope so atleast.

If a webmaster suspends you're account, you won't be able to look at you're stats, you will have a message stating the problem! You just need to verify you're stats often & see if the webmaster suspends you're accountm. I have been in the business for three years & never add this problem with suspended accounts threw ccbill & ibill. Their might be other ways for shaving partners that I don't know about. lets just say I thrust them or otherwise I will stress myself for no reason & not getting my work done. VERIFY YOU'RE STATS OFTEN! ONCE EVERY HOUR OR SO!

nobody in their right mind makes a habbit of checking their stats every hour or more often to make sure that their account isn't suspended, son.

just because you DON'T THINK you had a problem with it or haven't seen it --------- it doesn't mean it hasn't happened or isn't happening to you!

people know how it works. they don't need elaboration.

                                    Gah... ok.

I think with I-bill if you kill an account it e-mails the webmaster. CC bill I think does the same. I'm not 100% sure on both but I do think they have this feature.

                                    Anyway...

I like to think our money program is far from little. We used to process through I-bill and I-bill would pay the webmasters. We are larger now ofcourse but we did do an easy 100-200 signups a day back then and I-bill never asked us if we wanted a shave button.

I can't speak for the other processors as I have never used them for paying the webmasters. I can say from what I know I-bill does not have this in place.

Only real way to shave on this would be either multi processors, checks, exits and web900.

Get a subaccount. Yo can't suspend a subaccount. But you better be sending a lot of signups because the sponsor will have o give you your own signup page so you would have your own tour, login, etc.
I have three affiliates that I do that for so i can be accused of shaving. I don't think it is possible to shave a subaccount.

The way you shave a sub-account or any other account has already been said. Doesn't mean they do it but it's possible and no I'm not gonna say it again because people are stupid enough to try it and think they can get away with it.
It has nothing to do with suspending an account.

As has been said though - does this mean they do shave? In most cases no. Do all sponsors that don't use 3rd party shave? No. Undoubtably some do but many are also smart enough to realise getting caught shaving - and if you have the resources you can catch them - is not worth the few extra bucks. In most cases shaving is just people bitching because they send shit traffic that wouldn't buy at a boot fair (big garage sale type affair for those funny foreign types) let alone get a CC out.
