most basic traffic question

Okay, it doesn't get more basic than this.

What is the most efficient way to quickly boost my actual good traffic to my two niche paysites. Traffic is anemic lately. I have a lot of more long-term things in place, such as feeder sites, TGPs, and so forth... but I would like to keep doing more to help things grow.

Obviously, there is no golden answer here, but I'd love some tips. As I said, asking this silly, broad, optimistic question isn't all I'm doing, but it can't hurt. Buying general blind traffic isn't working for my sites. I am already starting on TGPs and feeder sites (like AVS sites), and finally made my affiliate program worthwhile. Any other tips?

Anyone feeling generous with the tips? I know it is asking a lot.

Dedicated advertising and keeping track of what's profitable and what's not is the thing you are looking for.

General blind traffic cant be good for a niche paysight.
At the risk of being repitious , PPC should be good for you .

It's long term, but very good stuff, work with search engines. Search engine traffic has converted quite well for me. Hit me up later on, I have some questions for you...

First, submit to DMOZ. At the rate things are going over there lately, this is hardly a "quick" boost, but once you get listed, the other SE's tend to pick you up rather quickly, in my experience.

If you really need insta-traffic, install a handfull of counters. They won't send much and it won't necessarily be quality (not to say that it won't, either...seems to vary) but it will be very, very quick. And the counters aren't much of a traffic bleed. If you're not concerned about the quality of your stats you can hide those buttons far, far away and still benefit from their link lists. Also those listings make for good spider food down the road.

Sex.com, even using related keywords like "gothic girls" converted absolutely potty for me. One problem with my niche is that there are sites that get *no* traffic in the niches I sell well with. So even targetted PPC may not work.

Maybe my tours just suck. I have considered that option.

We're on about 30% google traffic for both sites lately. Is that good? ;) (Alas, it is 30% of not much traffic, so we could do better. I think the feeder site program will help a lot with that.

Lots of DMOZ listing and traffic for both sited. I'd submit more, but technically you only get one per site and I don't want to get into trouble.

I suspect trackers will be the emptiest traffic in the world, very general audience stuff. Still, it would be non-blind clicked traffic, and that has to be better than nothing. Can you recommend a few trackers to try this with?

Get traffic from mainstream punk/metal/gothic toplists. I used to run a punk site (called "PunkWorld"), and several punk toplists, and adult punk/gothic sites that were listed always got insane traffic.

We also see decent traffic from "mainstream" goth/punk/alternative lists.

Have your girl do a few webcam shots and hit the webcam portals. Maybe even build her a small free site with no/limted nudity and join a couple linktrade groups, web rings, etc. and plaster her site with your banners/text links.

Also, form a couple goth-based Yahoo groups and each time you post, add your url's in your sig line.

Some of these non-adult goth sites are great for traffic, because instead of a pornsurfer looking for something, you're hitting a market that might not even be surfing for porn...they are goth fanciers and then BAM! they see a goth porn site and are like "fuck me, where's my credit card?" ;)

Also, find someone who has good double-optin mailing lists. Not necesarily spam lists, but double opt-in lists are great because these people tend to get a lot of adverts for "normal" sites and there's a good chance not many have seen goth adverts and you'll get a curiosity factor and a lot of people who might not know they are looking for goth.

Just a few ideas we are finding some scuccess with (and readying an assload more campaigns like this)

Any tips for maximizing your DMOZ listing? I've heard AOL heavily relies on it.. Any search engines other than Google see a single ?variable ? Google can see our ?site_id= and spiders the pages, but I'm worried about any of the others..

Currently I'm using sextracker, sexcounter and paycounter. Sextracker sends a small amount...REALLY small...but it's relatively targeted and it's almost instantaneous. (You can select up to five sub-cats for your listing...I think that's how it works...somebody will, I'm sure, correct me if I'm wrong.)

For your particular niche...you'd have to play this carefully, but I would think you could start frequenting a handful of Goth-themed boards and include your url in your sig...maybe build a very soft-core, erotica-focused doorway page. Of course it's handy if you or your girl are already involved in some of these boards. Obviously, you want to avoid spamming, but so long as you're actually interested in the "lifestyle," and it shows in your posts, you're not likely to make any enemies. You can get some nice traffic very quickly this way, and as a plus, BBS sigs are brilliant spider food.

i just looked at your tour, i would recommend making those tiny thumbs a little bigger. i can barely see it. i'm assuming when people go to a site to sign up for a porn membership then want to see pictures of girls they like before they get out their credit card.

If you need immediate traffic/results and would like a source that allows you to fine tune your marketing, you may want to try pay per click providers.

There's a ton of these guys. Buy minimum placements and experiment with which places send you the best converting traffic.

A site may send only a small amount of traffic. But if that traffic converts, you'd be better of focusing on those areas.

Yes, google makes a rank of the dmoz listings, the grey bar with green if you have seen it. Linkpopularity is what determine the rank.

I am sorry I didn't reply sooner. I have been busy this weekend with a shoot, and with my girlfriend getting home. Thanks to everyone for all the advice. I look forward to seeing how Shemp's traffic goes, and will be trying out a number of suggestions other people had. Some of it I am already doing, but I figure that helps out other people who are watching.
