    Computer question: Would this work?

My windows xp just got screwed as it doesnt load anymore and safe mode doesnt load either, its caught in a booting loop. If I take out my hard drive, connect it in my friends computer, and copy paste only the windows folder from his harddrive and overwrite that folder on mine, then connect it back to my computer, would it work?

Sounds to me like you may have a hardware problem. Pull each piece of hardware one at a time and try booting.

Since "Documents and Settings" folder is out of windows directory there might be a problem with installed programs also windows may bitch about the hardware.

why not do full backup of your stuff and run a good old format c:?

do backup your files, format and preinstall windows ;)
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

            good idea

there are 2 repair options in win install, first requires recovery disks and the second copies win files over, if my memory serves me correct.

My guess is NO, it wont work.
What you CAN do is insert the XP CD in the CDROM and see where does that lead you. Usually you can not repair the inastalled XP (my experience), but you can install second XP on the same HD, and not loose any data.
                Hope that helps.

no it won't work like that. You could plug it into your friends and copy off the documents you need, then just format and reinstall XP

Probably the best thing if it's that bad out of wack. Save your important stuff and get a fresh start.

                        back up your registry people

Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore

                        Create a restore point.
