    Video Encoding Question

    Why is it that on some videos that are streamed you can use the timeline slider to advance the scene (the video re-buffers and picks up at the point in the timeline)? Other videos you can't mess with the slider during playback until the video download completes.

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to encode my videos to the first option mentioned above.

    one is embedded the other is streamed or not completely downloaded yet.

      The one where you can drag the slider half way through and it rebuffers is running off a windows MMS server which is a lot more complicated and a freaking pain in the ass to get working well compared to simple embedding the movie into a page.

        Is there away to allow the user to drag the slider without running an MMS server? We are all LINUX :-)
