    HTML Code effects conversions?

How many of you guys hand code sites and how many use things like Dreamweaver? When I had LUMYR I always hand coded and made stuff as backwards compatible as possible (using body attributes instead of style sheets for text colors, etc...) and I think that contributed to higher conversions.

Does anyone think conversions are cut lower with style sheets and other code sinps programs like Dreamweaver writes?

    Um....

If anything style sheets would help your pages load quicker thus improving page views and possibly ctr and sales.

That's the whole concept behind them.....

      Mark,

      No doubt ;-)

Run same page with 'manual' created html and the 'automated' version .. numbers will tell.

One day I took a 36kb page an editor created and whittled out all of the unnecessary code and whitespace. Was able to get the page down to about 27kb. Whether or not that had a direct impact on my conversions, I don't know, but it sure doesn't hurt. The faster your tours load the better.

We're tight and talk almost every day but I'm working at a public company (www.110mediagroup.com) now that owns some adult stuff which you can see at www.mobbucks.com. I sold my design company and divested of everything else to come work with these guys. It kicks butt! =]

Thanks for the feedback guys. One thing I never tested was conversions from 'wsywig' coded pages to hand coded because I simply ALWAYS hand coded. I just wondered what negative impact it might have sticking with Dreamweaver styled code pages.
