They humans were at the Animal Shelter visiting their pet Chimp "MOE".
This chimp had lived with them in their home for over 20 yrs - They had brought Moe back from Africa after a poacher had killed the chimps mother...
Moe had been removed from their West Covina CA home after biting a womans finger. The couple have been visiting the Chimp at the shelter since October of last year and have been waging a legal battle to get the chimp back to their home. This has been a pretty big story in the San Gabriel Valley of So Cal... where I reside...

The couple had came to the Animal shelter and brought Moe a birthday cake and were standing outside the cage when two chimps from an ajoining cage got out of the cage somehow and attacked the humans.

The two attacking chimps were shot.
two other chimps that escaped, but did not attack the humans were recovered later by the Animal Shelter's owner...

This story is terrible... I hope the West Covina's officials that created this whole fiasco dont sleep well for weeks
