I'm anxiously waiting for the next crawl. How often does it happen? I have my page set to revisit every seven days.

How often does Google "Dance"?

googlebot is on the prowl constantly, how often you get spidered basically depends on how many links you have coming into your site... the meta revisit tag doesn't mean anything these days, you can leave it out. if you are a baller with getting new links or you can link heavily from your own established stuff, you should be able to get brand new stuff indexed within a few days... updates be damned. -
the revisit tag doesnt do much these days.. and yes amount of links play a major role

Thanks y'all. This is why I like posting here. I can get good information in between all of the bullshit around here.Originally posted by Rorschachgooglebot is on the prowl constantly, how often you get spidered basically depends on how many links you have coming into your site... the meta revisit tag doesn't mean anything these days, you can leave it out. if you are a baller with getting new links or you can link heavily from your own established stuff, you should be able to get brand new stuff indexed within a few days... updates be damned.Comment

The "dance" isn't really related to crawling sites - it refers to that pretty-much-monthly time when Google re-calculates and re-ranks it's index. Google crawls sites all over the 'net 24/7 ...
In terms of crawling you, like the post above, Googlebot will revisit more often depending on how many links you have coming in (and how often they get crawled, and so on). Another way to keep it coming back regularly is to update the page frequently.
So, to summarize, keep content fresh and get links from pages that do the sameComment
