    Question for wireless gurus

I am looking to do the following:

I need to place a wireless cam at our lake. It should have pan & tilt, that can be operated remotely, and preferabley have a waterproof housing, although not critical.
The feed needs to be sent to the house which is 1 mile away, with trees blocking the line of sight. The house is also at a higher elevation.

I keep hearing about 802.11 N & L, but there is not yet any agreed upon standard for these frequencies. Regardless, we don't mind using one of the existing products for the next year or so until something better comes along. It's a matter of locating these products that I keep reading about.

    Any suggestions? Caveats? Recommendations?

you can forget 11g or whatever, trees mess everything up, a regular 54g cam with a booster might do the trick, but with the trees its gonna be trouble, plus weather will mess up the stream too.

id go and look to get inet there, wireless, cable, dsl, maybe a dish, cause a 54g cam and booster will set you back 2k easily

I don't know if it will work without line of site, but search google for "can yagi" or "can antenna." In theory, you could just put a logiech wireless in an inverted fishtank with one of these antenna and place the receiving antenna under an eave or on the porch of the house.

nope wont, thats the best solution youre suggesting indeed, but the trees will mess everything up. you might also wanna check how much power is allowed to a booster, not everyone will be as happy if you put up a 5 watt booster next to a police station

Why not? Logitech and others have products already on the market that are pre-n

Standard ethernet is only good for up to about 100 meters.
