The movie has a lot of loose ends. Maybe he didnt cut deep enough, but his intention was there (to kill himself to lure Lucifer out). Well his soul was able to give the finger so it must still have the cancer, though shouldnt you be as good as new if you're on your way to heaven? Err.. This movie doesn't make you think because it's deep but coz of the loopholes.

And yes, like I said on my first post, it seemed like the movie was just a very long anti-smoking campaign

Nah, just someone who enjoys action flicks. It helps if you have some pedestrian knowledge of judeo-christian folklore too, but it's not essential.

It's fun, and they add a 'twist' to most of the cliches to make them at least amusing. I don't know if I'll buy the DVD, but I didn't feel ripped off seeing it in theatres.

I'm also looking forward to A Scanner Darkly. I loved Blade Runner (I'd love to see that movie redone with modern effects... Dekker could still be played by Harrison Ford, but I think Rutger Hauer is getting a little too decrepit to pull off a good Roy these days)
