I offered to take the whole thing off his hands for nothing and take over the headaches; after all, he was going to shut down the site completely anyway. His counter-offer was to let me manage the site while he keeps the domain.

I was offered a deal once to run a site for someone and split the profits but I just backed out after a month because I thought to myself "who's to say he won't yank it out from under me the second it turns a big profit"
