I'm mainly a lurker around here - but I pop my head up every now and then. One of the sites I run (non-adult) has a phpbb running on it. Over the last few days the "public" forums on it have been getting attacked by a spambot which has been posting the following message....
Now, since this is a mainstream (non-porn) site, having a message like this is not good. So, I figure out a way to block it, and go check out the phpbb website and find out that 30,000+ phpbb sites have been attacked by the same bot over the past few days. Some folks have done their best to trace the origin of the attacks to a guy in Spain.
So, I'm curious what some of you think of this. This guy has obviously signed up for an affiliate account from a paysite - and has now built a bot to see if he can get some money. Do any site owners actually condone this type of activity - or is something like this taboo among the adult community? It seems to me like something like this could only bring negatitive publicity to a site..... much more then any additional traffic it would bring.
If you found out one of your affiliates was doing this - would you terminate their account - or would you sit back and bask in all the additional traffic?
