The stroke funcion doesn't seem to work in textmode...

what I do:

make the text into a symbol.
Make a copy of the text on a seperate layer

break apart the lower layer's text. Then break apart again.

Then apply the stroke. Once it is applied to all the letters, you can select that entire layer and change the thickness of the stroke.

Thanks Thought it was just me being stupid, but apparently it's complicated...

Why dont they have any options for text like in photoshop... Would have rocked.

And Halycon pretty much nailed it. The other way you can do it is after breaking apart the text on the 2nd layer, you can do an 'expand fill' on it to give a stroke like effect.
